Personal history
The history of Deathwing is a long and troubled story, with his dark influence well documented during the Second War where he aided the Horde against the Alliance. Deathwing had fallen to corruption and took his new moniker as the Aspect of Death during the War of Ancients 10,000 years ago; Deathwing had tricked the other Aspects into channeling their powers into the Dragon Soul, a catalyst made of his own blood, to which he used against them almost causing the blue dragons' extinction. After the War of the Ancients, Deathwing had fled into hiding in an attempt to recover himself, for the amount of power he held from both the Dragon Soul and the power of his dark masters caused his body to break and deteriorate from the inside out, exposing his magma heart and forcing his body to be held together by plates forged of elemental earth.
Deathwing would continue to appear throughout Azeroth's troubled history, disguising himself as an Alliance Noble during the Second War to destroy the Alliance from the inside. He orchestrated the capture and enslavement of Alexstrasza and her red dragons, allowing the orcs to break them into riding mounts of pure terror. He would continue to manipulate both the Horde and Alliance until after the end of the Second War when Alexstrasza's mate, Korialstrasz, partnered with his apprentice, Rhonin Redhair, freed Alexstrasza and her brood and destroyed the Dragon Soul, returning the Dragon Aspect's long lost power.
Deathwing's final mark upon Azeroth would prove to be his most devastating; Causing The Cataclysm and attempted to usher in the Hour of Twilight, or the end of the world. His final attempt to serve his masters proved to be costly to Azeroth, but with the combined might of the remaining Dragon Aspects and some of the strongest warriors Azeroth had to spare, Deathwing was finally defeated and his body was torn apart by the Maelstrom.
