Kurse of Kroan
A wide-spread myth in the land of Azaran is the Kurse of Kroan. There are several variations of this myth going around, some more tame then others, some more true then others.

The actual curse is hard to come by in the current day. In the lair of Kroan were rare mushrooms, which when prepared correctly and ingested could lead to hallucinations. These increased the knowledge of agriculture and botany. When prepared incorrectly or exposed to its spores for elongated amounts of time the cursed soul would slowly turn frog-like. This process could take between a few hours and a few years.
Those who turned and their descendants feel magically drawn to the ones who consumed these mushrooms without turning. This is the reason for the surplus of frogs in the vicinity of the fields of those surviving the curse without turning.
A few of the mushrooms still survived to this day in the lair of Kroan, hence it is technically still possible to get the curse, both good and bad, but noone knows of any location of the mushrooms. Neither does anyone know the proper way to prepare the mushroom.

Historical Basis
Back when the old deities were still widely worshiped and those deities still roamed the land, Kroan was known to live a secluded existence somewhere in the dark and damp. Few ventured out to seek Kroan, even fewer returned. One thing many returning parties had in common was an abundance of food. Most returning adventurers became farmers, using previously unheard of, yet highly efficient ways to grow crops. Their fields often had a noticable attraction to frogs. Frogs and similar animals gathered around the fields, never touching the crop.
Variations & Mutation
All these myth variations have in common their relation to the frog deity Kroan. Some state that the ones afflicted start to croak instead of talking. This version is mostly used by mothers telling their children they will be aflicted if they dont finish their dinner.
Other versions warn of the afflicted becoming frogs entirely.
Even other adaptations of the myth talk about a substance, usualy told to be gooey or in some way related to rare mushrooms. This substance somewhere between a drink, a soup, or a meal, is then said to affect whoever consumes it. The effect is said to be very strongly hallucinogenic. what happens after these hallucinations is entirely up to the one telling the tale.
Everything in between is equally as possible as a variation of the myth.
