Y'Tolo'Degg

Lurking like a jewel of temptation within the Realm of Dark, Y’Tolo’Degg glows beneath an eternal sunset—a cityscape of silk-wrapped towers, gilded bathhouses, and grandiose casinos built upon craving, not cruelty. Named for a phrase in the demon tongue meaning “And We Indulged,” this domain is both dream and damnation: a place where every fantasy is fulfilled... until fulfillment becomes the curse.   Souls sent here arrive to music, warmth, and applause. They are welcomed with open arms, flattered, and celebrated. Every appetite is sated. Sex, food, power, admiration all are free and endless. In the velvet lounges and glowing card halls, they win. And win again. And win more.   But the pleasure never ends because it cannot.   Over time, the thrill fades. Orgies blur into agony. Games begin to twist. They lose, again and again. Praise becomes mocking. Magic shows repeat in endless cycles, and yet attendance is mandatory. Laughter becomes noise. Joy becomes torment. And still, they stay because on rare, cruel occasions, a flicker of that old joy returns... only to vanish again, deeper and colder than before.   This is the genius of Y’Tolo’Degg: the soul breaks not from punishment, but from the pursuit of pleasure with no meaning. The high fades but the craving lingers.

“Shh. Your past doesn’t matter here. Only what you want. So... what do you want?”     "Yea. No one will judge you here. In fact... we’ve all been waiting for someone just. Like. You.”
— Succubi to a roaming lost soul

Points of interest

The Velvet Teeth

The city’s infamous pleasure quarter, where lust, obsession, and physical indulgence reign. Perfumed air clings to crimson-curtained parlors and golden lounges, each designed to fulfill every desire—until desire becomes need, and pleasure curdles into pain.

Spiral Row

A lavish casino district where souls gamble not just with coin, but with memory, identity, and time. Newcomers win freely—at first—before luck fades and losses become irreversible. The Spiral feeds on hope, and rewards just enough to keep it alive.

Final Ovation

A thespian’s nightmare: all souls here are forced into endless acts—plays, dances, confessions—watched by demons cloaked in applause. Failures are punished with disfigurement or forced encore. Many performers lose their voices and continue anyway, miming screams for eternity.

Absolution

Absolution in Y’Tolo’Degg is done in two parts, and is not found through endurance, but through rejection. The soul must recognize the lie, resist indulgence, and begin to deny their cravings, one by one. This self-denial causes spiritual torment—phantom pain, hallucinations of joy, emotional collapse.   After they are sapped of want, they must locate the 'Pale Mercy', a solitary white flower that blooms for the specific individual. Only they can see this flora, and after locating it, they must offer their most cherished memory and desire to it. After relinquishing their prize, the soul and the flower dissipate, entirely absolved. However, few succeed. The city offers everything, and most would rather be devoured by their own longing than go without it.
