Adamantine
Adamantine is a metal that is only found in Illithorid ruins and in the falling sky stones. adamantine appears as a rose-gold metal, with a sheen of green to it, however, when certain Psycomantic spells are cast near it, the color becomes a deep purple, possibly revealing something about its origins. Adamantine is extremely durable, and can only be melted by fires as hot as a dragon's breath. in addition to its strength, adamantine has the uncanny ability to cut into non-living material with great ease, which makes it useful in tools and pickaxes. adamantine is also used to craft weapons, as they are capable of cutting through armor and other weapons, but most peculiarly, it does not cut through soul-iron. the association with the sky and adamantine has led to various beliefs about it regarding the gods, or the soul. since the gods get their life from the stars and adamantine comes from the stars, it is theorized that the stars are made out of adamantine, or vice versa, and somehow adamantine could be used to achieve immortality or even ascension. this theory could explain the immortality of the Illithorids, as they seem to have used adamantine in their strongholds. soul-iron cannot be destroyed by adamantine, possibly because there is something living within it, and adamantine fails to cut through living matter with the same ease as non-living matter. other people believe that adamantine is a gift from the blacksmith god Shmeithaccu, who slew an ancient titan and sent its scales down to Ayemm, in hopes that they would learn the ways of the gods.
