The Leviathan
Overview
The Leviathan is the most isolated of The Venientium and rarely involves itself with the more humanoid creatures of Axeram. It remains within the Volani Isles surrounded by its Veldren, the Dragons.Appearance
"There are no recordings or even tales of the Leviathan communicating with humanoid creatures, let alone taking on the form of one. The only reason we know they exist is through communication with other Ven or Guardians. It's obvious that they seem to detest the mortal form but does this come from a sense of superiority over us or does it derive from rivalry/history with other Ven." - On the Nature of Sentience and Divinity - by Aldores JihanesThe Leviathan in all recorded sightings has taken the form of gargantuan serpentine creatures, whether this is of dragons, sea serpents or large snakes. It is unknown whether it can take the form of a smaller creature, but those who have studied interactions between the Leviathan and other Ven doubt they would reduce their stature. THe intricacies of its appearance varies between sightings, with no common features other than the presence of scales.
History
One of the most interesting notes on the Leviathan is that it played no part in The Mortal Ascension and ignored any pleas for help by other Ven. Its neutrality in the war was noticed by the Mortals and attempts at earning its loyalty was met with vicious force. Aside from these brief interactions mortals have steered clear of the Leviathan. After the Mortal Ascension when Veldren history was shared with the Mortals, it was discovered that even other Ven avoided the Leviathan as it would often result in cataclysmic battles.
