Realm of Gadon

The following is selected information from the files of the Skywatcher Institute and is believed to be the most important information about the realm.

Realm name: Gadon

Aurora colors: Bright green.

Occurrence: every 5,241 days

Duration of Conjunction: 132 days

Realm terrain: Mostly dense forests, thinned in places where elf-like communities have built towns in the towering trees. The terrain itself is mountainous with clear lakes and waterfalls from perpetual snowmelt.

Realm climate: The air is relatively humid and the temperature is mild, with little seasonal variation. Winter is only slightly cooler with more frequent rain, with snow accumulating high on the mountaintops.

Species present: Many species of trees, plants, and forest-dwelling beasts. There are numerous species of bioluminescent plants and creatures. There are also at least three sentient species with unique cultures, including a species of sentient fungal beings. (A list of species names and the Realmwalkers who studied them, and where to find those original notes, takes up several pages here.)

Species believed to have originated in Gadon:

  • Elves - Several societies of elf-like beings live in the forests of Gadon. They have a similar appearance, though with longer ears, and use similar magics.
  • Dwarves - A similar species of mountain-dwelling beings thrive in the mountains of Gadon. They are small and hearty, much like dwarves, and build their cities within mountainsides. Unlike dwarves, they eat the stones and minerals they mine.

Potential Commercial Materials*

  • Luminance - The bioluminescent material harvested from plants or other living beings found anywhere on Gadon. It can be used in inks and paints to create a glowing effect that lasts for years. The luminance of each species has a slightly different chemical composition, and so far results are varied as to the best species to harvest from. More studies are needed.
*Realm Ventures is continually looking to finance more trips to Gadon by Realmwalkers willing to help look for potentially commercial materials.
