Anchoring the Fields
Whenever seeds are planted in the fields of Avarha, all members of the local community come together for a ceremony called Anchoring the Fields, in which small Core Anchors are also seeded through the fields. Once each field is Anchored, a celebration is held that includes food, music, and games.
History
Once Core Anchors were created, they began to be used to keep buildings, people, animals, and plants anchored to Avarha during Realm Conjunctions. Though plants are less likely to be Plucked into another realm. Plucking typically happens to objects and individuals that are on or close to the surface of Avarha, making seeds and sprouting plants more likely to be Plucked than more mature plants.
In order to preserve the crops and therefore the livelihoods of the farmers, researchers from the Skywatcher Institute began experimenting with very small Core Anchors that could be scattered through fields with seeds. As long as the Anchors are spread consistently across the field, they seem to provide protection for the seeds and young plants until their roots grow deep enough to be naturally Anchored to Avarha.
Members of the communities around the farms where the experimental Core Anchors were being spread, curious to see this happen, gathered to watch the spreading of the Anchors. This turned into a tradition, and communities began having parties afterwards, which also turned into tradition.
Execution
Farmers receive replenishments of Core Anchors before the time for planting, in case they were unable to collect all the Anchors from the season before. This ensures they have enough Anchors to make up for any that were washed away by rains or that were damaged by farming implements.
When planting time arrives, farmers first plant the seeds, then the community gathers to travel between the fields in the area. When the crowd reaches their field, farmers spread the Core Anchors over the seeds. Once all the fields in the community have been Anchored, a celebration is held in the town square that includes many types of entertainment. Each community has a slightly different version of the celebration, but they all follow the same basic premise.
