The Nyathi
The Nyathi are a proud chimeric race with an immensely strong relationship with the lands and creatures. They are often hesitant to interact with other species, choosing instead to stay within their own tribes. Because of this, not much is known about the deeper culture and history of the Nyathi. What is known is that they have a special relationship with the animals of the land, often being able to commune with them or at the very least, understand their intentions to a greater extent than most other species.
They once only lived in the jungles at the Eye of Auros, but deforestation & hunting have meant their kind has spread across multiple cities throughout Auros. Some cities are more welcoming than others of the Nyathi; Kaska Kun & Kun Sonos for example favour the Nyathi and encourage them into their city and society. However in Caso City they still do not have equal rights and are treated as lesser beings. There are movements and charities in Caso City that support and help Nyathi that have been displaced from their homeland, N.AN.O is the largest of these charities. As with most beings, the Lords of Nguvu only care for their strength and ambition, and so for them a weak Nyathi is no different from a weak human, both will die out soon enough.
Appearance
Nyathi will have physical characteristics of the animal their tribe is associated with. From gills, to claws, to feathered backs. Some Tribes specialize in hunting and therefore will have a coloring that matches its natural hunting grounds. Different groups of Nyathi can be of the same Tribe, for example a member of Adoro (fish) tribe of the Lusedor Ocean, may look completely different to an Adoro tribe of more tropical wetlands, but would still be of the same tribe.
Personality
As with their appearance, a Nyathi’s personality and attitude will often align with the animal it is associated with. However, it is important to note that animals of the same kind can have vastly different personalities. A generic house cat and a Kuskan tiger may both be cats but behave differently when approached by a stranger. However, due to years of being hunted and attacked, very few Nyathi trust other species, especially humans. Only those who have lived alongside humans since childhood hold them in equal regard. All Nyathi have a deep respect for animals and their welfare. Even a hunting tribe would not hunt a defenseless animals, choosing instead to go for larger, better equipped animals who have the means to fight back.
