Day 296-298 2 Days
A column of darkness poured out of the Shadowfell portal. The area around was rotted and decayed. Fortifications surrounded it to defend against invading undead We sailed the ship into the portal, entering the Shadenreach (a demiplane of the Shadowfell) We decided to investigate a campsite we saw nearby At the campsite, monochromatically colored individuals sat around a fire amongst a number of instruments. The figures did not respond to a presence Gael saw a red clothed figure moving near the fire The red figure was a human-appearing man who greeted us in a friendly manner He said that his friends had been affected by a “curse” layed on them by a dragon who dwelt in the nearby mountain They said that they were affected by this curse while on a journey to the Shadowfell to visit their patron, Farrowin for an event called “The Great Disalignment” The figure was named Dargos Described the dragon as a massive black-scaled beast who scooped up corpses from around the area The dragon apparently asks riddles of the people who approach him Dargos described Farrowin as a god of freedom as opposed to an evil one We decided to visit the dragon to get their side of the story and attempt to negotiate with them Struggled to pry open the massive door to the lair Saw draconic writing on the inside chamber with a poem describing a blue dragon who was robbed of its flight by a group of adventurers and confined in darkness Tried alerting our presence to any inhabitants, but got no response Marched further inside and found another poem that hinted at the location of four levers that open the way to the dragon’s hoard The party split in two directions. I went to the right with Constance and Scar, while Gael and Nirx went to the left. Gael and Nirx found a room with inscriptions on the roof and blue smoke The blue smoke had a burning sensation in the nostrils The plan they came up with was to attempt to fling Gael from the end of Nirx’s glaive. Hopefully flipping the lever and quickly getting out of the smoke. By some miracle, the plan went off without a hitch We entered a room with six demonic heads chained to a pedestal, the heads said that they each offered deals Based on the riddle, one of them must have been a liar and had the lever in its mouth Constance put 10 gp in the mouth of the fourth head I fed the last of my thin mints to number 2, causing him to become thin Constance put another 10 gp in number 5, getting more nonsense in return I paid number 2 and 3 Skar paid number 1 and 6 Skar tested to see if they would react if he raised his weapon to the center pedestal and they did not react other then looking at him I tried putting my hand in number 3 thinking it was the liar and got chomped We ended up reaching in all of them and Scar found the lever in head number 1 We then entered the room full of coffins which was immediately after Gael and Nirx still needed a way through the gas in order and came up with a plan for Gael to sprint in with a rope tied to him to try to pull the lever Gael fell unconscious before he could make it to the gate The next room had a series of traps which Gael avoided by running on the wall They arrived at a tomb with draconic writing and a statue of a one-eyed woman holding a chalice In the coffin room we correctly guessed the lever to be in coffin number 5 The coffin room and the demon head room were connected, so to correctly guess the right head we needed to compare with the coffins Eventually we rejoined Gael and Nirx and attempted to help them with the eye trial Nirx stabbed the huge eye, causing the lever to “soften” slightly Nirx dove into the eye, swimming down and pulling a lever Upon emerging, Nirx had no eyeballs and we could not find out how to restore them The main door was now glowing after having pulled all four levers Inside were many piles of skeletons and a golden hoard upon which was a sleeping black dragon Nirx walked in and began to speak with him The dragon was named Endarsurrakkandaerev and claimed there was no curse except the “one on his soul” and expressed distaste for the “loud” cultists The dragon was killed by adventurers but his body was desecrated, leaving his soul unable to return to the Dracosphere I asked him about what rituals could be done to save his soul We attempted a ritual to help usher his soul back to its uncorrupted state He was able to regain his blue scales and his soul was left in a vortex taking him to the Dracosphere We returned to the campsite, which was now bustling with activity. Dargos provided us with a Drop of Pure Darkness as he agreed and invited us to join him in celebration New Characters Dargos Endarsurrakkandaerev Session 18: A Dragon Dragged
