Beeholder

Beeholders are a rare species of abberation believed to have been created possibly as some sort of strange joke, or possibly in an accident involving honey contaminated by raw mana. Other theories include that they were created by a matisoma looking to create some sort of livestock or pet before being loosed into the world.

Basic Information

Anatomy

At first glance, a beeholder appears to be a huge, free-floating roughly spheroid structure with a papery or waxy texture pockmarked by hexagonal holes, including one massive hole in the front containing a single eye. However, only the eye is a part of the creature's true body; when the "beehive" is knocked or burned away, the central creature emerges, resembling a fat insect, usually with multiple, misshapen limbs, and always with a vicious stinger whose length can exceed eighteen inches and whose venom causes one of a variety of deleterious magical effects.   A beeholder is usually protected by a defensive swarm of much smaller one-eyed insects which defend the large one as though it were the queen of its hive.
