Despite the war ending, there were still those holding personal grudges against various nations. Terrorists attacks targetted several cities causing some of the sky cities to crash in the attacks. As a precaution, the remaining cities were lowered to avoid collatoral damage such as that that had occured at The Blasted Flats.
The sporting event Rift Strike is invented harnessing the lingering energies left behind by rifts. The sport quickly grows in popularity with teams and arenas being setup for the game.
The Gods left the world to its own ways, the cause of which is unknown although various ideas and beliefs are held.

Many Rift Hunters died to close the portal, but the demons were pushed back before the horde could spread to other regions. The area has since become known as Flame's Kiss after the destruction wrought upon the surrounding area.
