Gundren Rockseeker

Gundren, born into a family of dwarven miners, took to the career as easy as anything. He spent most of his young life working in his parents mine, a small affair near Neverwinter. Him and his brothers soon set out into the world in search of wealth and riches. They had been told stories of the legendary Wave Echo Cave their entire childhood, and so made it their mission to seek it out and make themselves rich as kings. Years passed but they had no luck. Everything seemed bleak and hopeless. They worked long hours in cramped, sooty mine shafts, digging out lumps of rock for meagre amounts of coin. They had found no information regarding the location of the lost mine.   Gundren, ready to give up on their lifelong dream, resigned himself to drinking away his sorrows in the seediest tavern in Neverwinter. He drunkenly challenged a stranger to a game of cards, in which he bet his pick axe (a treasured family heirloom) and his opponent bet a map sealed with red wax. Through some stroke of luck, Gundren won, and when he ripped the map open he went silent in shock - for it was a map leading straight to the legendary Wave Echo Cave.   The very next day, the brothers headed towards Phandalin to investigate the site. Gundren left his brothers to make preparations while he returned to Neverwinter to secure supplies. He hired a ragtag band of adventurers to accompany a cart down to Phandalin and a warrior escort named Sildar Hallwinter.   While on the road together, they fell in love. But they were ambushed by goblins on the Triboar Trail and Gundren was held captive in Cragmaw Castle. He was soon rescued by the party and, once they had conquered the evils within and reunited the two lovers, Gundren worked with Sildar to reopen Phandelver MIne.   They were married a month afterwards and currently live in Phandalin, in the newly refurbished Tresander Manor.
