Name: Dendarian Ichor
Type: Semi-intelligent extraplanar Infection
Description:
A midnight black goo, Dendarian Ichor is a substance theorized to be created by the Devil Dendar. It was used, in the aftermath of the Crimson Eclipse, to enslave hosts to do Dendar's bidding. When the goo contacts the skin of a would-be host, it is absorbed and begins to slowly take over functions of the host. While disease like in nature, no known cures have been able to quell the infection. In fact, administration of any elixir seems to make the ichor defend itself, usually by causing the host pain. Not much more is known, as there is only one documented study on an infected individual.
Cure: Unknown
Below is the notes of Isaac Rowe, Head of Medical Sciences at Ridweth Institute of the Arcane

Subject administered to the medical wing today with a curious infection. Female, Dwarf, 130 years old. Patient's left forearm shows a dark, web-like pattern under the skin. Patient claims to have been attacked by a black goo in a cave she was exploring. Due to the unknown nature, a team has been dispatched to go investigate the site. Patient has been put in solitary confinement to avoid spreading the illness. Took a blood sample to test. Will investigate more once I have more information.

Investigation group returned, tests indicate the material is extraplanar in nature. The goo attacked one of the group, infecting him. It seemed to react to the presence of the group, and my theory is the substance is partially intelligent. Cave has been quarantines until more can be learned. New infected patient under different care. First patient has not shown any changes. Tests on her blood indicate disease, and an elixir regiment will be started tonight.

Upon administration of the elixir, patient was thrown into spasms, screaming about pain in her head. New plan is to prepare many different potions to test if the reaction is the same. Nervous about the speed at which the pain started: almost instantly after administration of the elixir.

All known cures tested created the same reaction, extreme pain and suffering. My hypothesis is that this infection, knowing the potions are a threat, is putting the host under fits of pain. Due to this almost sentient reaction, I plan to bring in a mage to investigate her mind, both with cure inside her and without.

When investigating patients thoughts, nothing major discovered. When patient is in pain, however, the thoughts were so unbearable that we had to forcefully end the connection, and the mage has been admitted to the psych ward. This avenue of testing will no longer be pursued, for fear of killing the patient, or the person reading her thoughts.

Due to lack of options, patient is left alone for 6 days. Over the course of this time the infection has spread, now covering her entire arm and most of her upper chest. All attempts to slow the spread are met with the same extreme pain. This case has been reported to the Head of the Institute, due to its severity.

A ritual was performed by the headmaster, and he was able to communicate with some sort of dark entity. It called itself Dendar, and not much was learned before he was overwhelmed and had to end the spell. This is an amazing discovery, as this being was able to overpower the man who may be the strongest spellcaster alive right now.

Infection has spread to the entire body, and the patient seems to be mutating. What seems to be a third limb started to grow from the patient's abdomen. Second patient, the one infected in the cave investigation, attacked and killed the doctor monitoring him. He was put down by guards. Deeming treatment of this patient a risk to the institute, she will be terminated by the end of the day. I have recorded all I have learned, naming the substance Dendarian Ichor. Further study will be needed.

Progress has been made at last. My research has lead me to discover the identity of Dendar. He is a devil of Nightmares and Dreams, but I fear I have delved too deep. My dreams in recent weeks have been plagued with a shadowy figure following me. In the last few days the figure has materialized into the corporeal world, and I think Dendar has come for me. Do not continue my research
