Ridweth Encyclopedia of Ailments, Volume 21

Written by Caldrsa

The Ridweth Institute of the Arcane, since its inception, has published many texts about magic, science, medicine, and other exotic arts. One of these, the Ridweth Encyclopedia of Ailments, has been around since the inception of the institute.Compiled by scholars at Ridweth, the tome catalogs every ailment studied at the institute. A new volume is created every fifty to one hundred years, as each entry must be studied and verified to not have changed before it can be included in a new edition. Each entry contains a detailed description of the ailment, as well as any relevant notes taken by scholars that have studied it. Some entries even predate the Incursion.

When a new volume is published, it is sent to scribes at all the major libraries in Ilucin. Since supply is limited, old editions are circulated to smaller libraries after a new edition is received. This day and age, almost every worthwhile library has a copy from one edition or another.

When an ailment is added to the tome, it is never removed, even if no other cases come up. This has made the book bloated in recent years, but this is for a good reason. Some of the lesser documented ailments come up on rare occasions, and when this happens the Encyclopedia is worth its weight in gold.

The most recent volume, 21, was published in 1040 ACE. Ridweth is on the tale end of compiling volume 22, and within the next decade it should be released to the public.
