Worldember 2025 - Shadows of the Necropolis cont.
Assignments
My overall strategy is to write 20 articles of 500 words each. Should get me to 10k with manageable bite sized articles. I then to work on art for my articles first, which can be time consuming, so I need to pace myself.
Oh... and note to self: Do remember to enable competitive mode this year! Forgot to do it last year I had still attained the 10k, but missed out on the badge...
Week 1
Just get ready for next game scheduled Tuesday, December 9th. Some players expressed the desire to do less dungeon crawl and more exploration / open world. Since I don't want this to turn into a multi-year open world campaign, I decided to introduce an intrigue with one of their contacts: Master Scribe Sh'arr. Objective: 2,500 words.
Characters have been invited to addend a private show from "Les Troubadours Tordants" (French for 'The Witty Troubadours') whom players affectionately named "The TT's"... Pun very intended for middle-aged men playing D&D together for the last 25 years... I have a premise, a few hooks in mind but no substance for the intrigue I have thought of. So yeah I need to get my material ready for next game: Describe the main characters, write the detailed plot, which I will publish once players are done that bit...
Week 2
Describe in more details additional locations and characters players have already encountered. Objective: 5,000 words.
Week 3
Go down into the rabbit hole of the *real reason* why the Necropolis is bustling with undead... Objective: 7,500 words.
Week 4
??? Objective: 10,000 words.
Week 5
Week between Christmas and New Year's.... Sneak onto my computer when everyone's asleep and try to hammer a few hundred words to cross the finish line since I have procrastinated the other weeks...
Bonus Objective
I've been thinking of writing a JavaScript based generator for my initiative markers I print for players and encounters. I'm using Paint.NET with a few layers and it's tedious to manually pace images and stats within the correct spots. Not counting for words, but I've been thinking about it since this summer. I may have time to hack on this while cutting-corners by using world dominating artificial intelligence to code the dull bits for me....
