Character Description

Even tempered, this frail old man is well respected by his entourage yet generally unknown despite his former prestige position within the political arena of Whadi.
 

Appearance

The senior scribe dresses not in the formal attire of scribes, but rather in plain and neutral color tones. He favors wearing long and billowing clothes for protection from the heat and harsh sunlight. He keeps his gray hair relatively short but let his beard grow to emphasize his status. Strangely enough, he is almost always seen perfectly groomed and refreshed like the elements have no sway on him.
 

Personality

Never in a rush, perpetually composed, this man is highly regarded by the intellectual and mercantile community. He likes living every day like he is timeless. Master Sh'aar will always make a fair offer for sought after items regardless if they are mere trinkets or hallowed antiquities. He prefers to mingle in public events, although serious negotiations always conclude behind closed doors both for his personal protection and privacy.
  He devotes most of his time to his research however, he also has a healthy social life. He like to invite his close circle of friends to social events such as private plays and concerts held in his well sized villa. His events are never widely publicized and also he is discrete concerning his closest friends and confidants.
 

Background

Master Scribe Shaa'rr was born from a well off family, not quite nobility but more than mere wealthy socialites. His mother negotiated fiercely with her entourage to have him accepted as an apprentice in the Archivum Officiale. Discipline and dedication paved the road for his fulgurous ascension in the official archives. Still as a young boy, he was assigned to scribe recordings of the various discoveries in the Necropolis which sparked personal interest into the world of anthropology. In his late teens, he was assigned to record the proceedings of the Triumvirate where he had a brilliant and long career until his recent retirement. As per the local rules, "Master Scribe" remains his honorific title even after completing his public service.
 

Motivations

Sh'arr is obsessed with collecting scriptures and knowledge related to the origins of the city and anthropology in general. Since Whadi is 'uniquely civilized' compared to the violent and merciless vastness of the Savage Coast there must be an ancient secret that makes it so special and it must be uncovered. He wants to fill the halls of his villa with a complete and varied library of historical scriptures to fuel his research for decades to come.
