Gespenst (ɡəˈʃpɛnst, ɡɛspænst)
A Gespenst (german, lit. Ghost or Spook), also commonly called ghosts, are a kind of supernatural entity that typically lack a physical form. There are a wide variety of types, though they can generally be classified by whether they had a mortal form or not.
Being a very diverse group of creatures, there is little likeness among their capabilities. Some have illusory bodies which can be seen, while others are entirely invisible or may not even have a centralized essence, being more of a presence. Many are capable of interacting with the physical world in some fashion, either directly being able to affect it such as Poltergeists, or through vaguer influence.
