Rian Ozmid

Lord Rian Ozmid (a.k.a. The Blue Shadow)

Rian, along with his twin sister Alaina, were born to a lower middle-class family in Southhost. Nine years later, their little sister Nora was also born. To make ends meet, Rian apprenticed under both a blacksmith and a wizard, while Alaina worked with the local carpenter. Eventually, Rian's parents made an investment in an up and coming lumber town and had made plans to moth the family there. Unfortunately, Rian's parents fell to exposure during the journey. When the tree siblings arrived, they found that the town had been abandoned following animal attacks. They decided that Rian would leave to find work while Alaina would stay behind to salvage what she could for her and Nora. Rian would find and join the Blue Dawn Adventuring Guild, which was once the Knight's Order of the Blue Dawn. For five years, Rian traveled in a party consisting of himself, a ranger named Anna, and a paladin named Barros. Eventually, the covert actions of Scarlet Horizon forced the Blue Dawn guild, and Rian's party, to disband. Rian did freelance work for a short time before attempting to return to his family. However, on his way back he became lost, and eventually found himself in a rebel war camp. After the king's fall, Rian moved his family into a small manor in Alderdeen.   Rian was invaluable in the fight against Asmodeus and Ahriman, as he was the one who ultimately figured out Ahriman's existence in the first place. He along with the other heroes brought down Ahriman and brought peace to the world. Following the events of the cataclysm, Rian was granted the honor of succeeding Grand Twinkle as the bearer of the spirit of Loki.   During the 30 years of peace, Rian decided to direct the majority of his focus toward the future security of Aryllia in the event that another tragedy should occur. One of his main efforts was the creation of the Warforged, and army of automatons. He also aided Thia Nilo in removing the remains of a Tharizunian cult that was holed up in the deep forests of Afa Thalor.    The begin of the decline of Rian's mental state occurred when he discovered that Grazz't had somehow gained possession of Baphomet's heart. Because he was unable to put together a team with his old comrades from Deicide, he brought his two friends and leaders of Blue Dawn, Ana and Barros. In the fight, Grazz't brutalized the group; amputating Rian's left arm and killing both Ana and Barros. Rian was able to eventually kill Grazz't thanks to the Spirit of Loki that resided within him. Rian returned a broken man and he turned to a life of isolation and hermitism. In Rian's absence, the Empire decided to discontinue the production of the Warforged, as they were apparently not needed.    Rian was not seen again until the night following Dautlin's Great Refusal. As the reincarnation of Loki, it was Rian's job to advise the king. He went to attempt to convince King Wolfswift to step down. Dautlin attacked Rian and the two fought leading to the death of the King. Rian then retreated back into the shadows, only appearing in random events in which he would attack Empire strongholds then retreat back into oblivion, thus earning the nickname, The Blue Shadow.

Mental Trauma

Rian has a difficult time trusting people due to deception by his party and the betrayal of his late mentor, Orren. Most recently, this lead Rian to trick the captain of the guard in Alderdeen to spy on the leaders of the Blue Dawn on his behalf. Lately, Rian has been sheading this suspicious attitude and allowing his more trusting philosophy to shine through.

Morality & Philosophy

Rian's core philosophy revolves around the idea that the whole is greater than the sum of its parts. He most obviously applies this logic as a craftsman, but he also applies it to people. Any group of people who are willing and able to work together can achieve what would be impossible for most. Rian's lapse in trust heavily undermined this philosophy, though it has returned in recent days.
