Royal Palace of Drifeyer

Purpose / Function

The Palace is the seat of the Queen where she has audiences, makes decisions and lives. She also expects diplomats and representatives from other countries there. The royal council also has its meeting in the palace.

Denizens

The Queen of Drifeyer, the seven members of the royal council, the Queen's Guard, staff members (servants of all kinds from cooks to cleaning personal), physicians, storytellers, musicians, diplomats and ambassadors, special magic users and guests. Not all of these people are permanent residents though.

Alterations

The Royal Palace actually started off as a rather small building. It used to be only one hall where meetings of the council were being held, which is now the throne room. But later rulers had more and more rooms added, from the Hall of Healing, to private quarters for the queen and councillors to guest rooms, a kitchen, ball and dining rooms, music rooms, staff rooms, a library, meeting rooms, a crypt, courtrooms, prison cells and storage rooms for food and clothing, as well as the stables and gardens.

Architecture

Elvish with some Dwarfish influences. It is a mixture of stable, steady and rather geometrical foundations and the filigree, round and more organic style of the sea elves. It's basically a mixture between art deco and art nouveau.   The palace is made with a sandstone foundation, built and carved by dwarves, the higher floors are made from sea quartz, mother of perl and stained glass. If the sun shines on it, the dacade gleams in pearly whites and all the colours of the rainbow. It's quite the spectacle.   The palace has six floors but one is underground and and is just the towers' top floors.

Defenses

Thick walls are enveloping the palace hill and are always manned. The palace itself also hosts guards and is protected b strong magic.

Tourism

Many architecture lovers visit the palace as well as people interested in history and historical buildings.
