Session 2: Welcome to Amyhra. 3rd and 4th Day of Dusk, 255 TTE
General Summary
The part makes the rest of the journey to Baypass without incident. Before they make the leg of the journey up to the cliff-top fortress, Arygar holds back Jax, Meris, and Rowan. He takes some time to lecture them on their recklessness, blaming them for provoking the Slothclaw, which led to the injury and near death of several of their companions. Furthermore, he warns Rowan that his display of magic will likely land him in trouble with the Consort. Even though he and Kalas have tried to convince the rest of their group to remain silent on the matter and have paid a few off, he's not confident someone won't alert one of the guards. With that in mind, he recommends Rowan stay in the tree-line for the night, giving the rest of the group enough time to be screened by the Consort and set sail for Amyhra. He agrees with Jax and Meris choosing to stay with him.
The three new-found companions find shelter in a small earthen outcropping just long enough to shelter them from elements that is close enough to Baypass to escape to if they encounter a particularly nasty creature, but not so close that they will be spotted by the guards. As night falls, they light a small fire, shedding enough light to ward ward off curious predators but not enough to give away their presence to Baypass. They take turns standing watch, listening to the sounds of the wilderness and its many terrors as well as spotting shapes moving in the darkness and pairs of glimmering eyes looking back at them.
As dawn arrives and the fire goes out, a Snapbeast attacks, catching Rowan, the last to stand watch, on the shoulder with its sharp claws. Jolting awake, the other two quickly attack back. Meris cracks her whip across the creature's face and Jax fires her hand crossbow, just grazing it bridge of its noise. Rowan also gets a good jab in with his knife before the Snapbeast realizes it has been outmatched and flees, blood pouring from its face. Jax spots a second Snapbeast in the distance, but it doesn't approach them.
Keeping a watchful eye out for their stalkers, the party packs up and sets out for Last-Rest, a small coastal village just northwest of Baypass. Here, they run into Kalas, who has arranged passage for them across the Yova Bay to Amyhra. The party takes advantage of the small market in the village and replenishes their supplies. Once ready, they meet Kalas at the docks where he is conversing with a Harekin ship captain who is obviously unsettled. For 20gp, he is willing to hid Rowan in a crate in the cargo hold to eliminate the risk of the Consort apprehend him as they are looking for a Rhinkin traveling two Amyhra suspected of practicing magic. It's a large crate, but it's still a tight fit for Rowan.
Once stowed, they set sail with a dozen crewmembers and another dozen travelers. They are stopped at the Consort blockage and boarded for search. Rowan is not discovered and only one of the passengers is apprehended on suspicions of being involved with the smuggling network of the region. The vessel sails throughout the rest of the day and night, arriving at the Floatdocks of Amyhra shortly after dawn.
Kalas explains that he has business he would like to discuss with the three, but has other matters he must attend to first. With that, he departs. As the party makes their way towards the elevators that will take them from the Floatdocks up to the city proper, they encounter a Hynkin that says he is a contact of Kalas. He explains that they are putting together a delving guild to acquire artifacts and relics from the ruins of Okanu and make a case for establishing a centralized museum in Amyhra to rival the Eternal Library in Cogys. The party is interested in this venture and agrees to join them later in the day for further coordination.
