Mantle of the Fallen World

The world is covered in remnants of the world that came before. Much of it has fallen to time and the forces of nature, but enough stands to tell Aroka's current inhabitants that great civilizations once dominated the planet, some with significantly advanced technology. This has led many to delve into the ruins and see if there is any lost knowledge, treasure, or weaponry that could bring them fame, power, and riches. Very few the embark on these ventures return, but a few manage to remerge, bringing with them incredible stories and, on occasion, a taste of what else may be hidden elsewhere in the world.

The Lost City of Pallium is considered the crown jewel of the former world and is believed to reside within the Lost Mountains. Due to the dangerous wildlife and hazardous environment of the region, very few that manage to find a safe way into it ever emerge. However, word has begun to spread that a safe way into the mountains has been discovered, drawing the attention of adventurers across the world. It has also drawn the attention of many major organizations that have sent well-equipped opperatives to secure what lies within the city for themselves. Even organizations previously unheard of have begun to emerge, suggesting that this discovery may be more significant that it first seems.
