Siabasso

Summary A small but growing town located on the bank of the Umbro river. It is a young community run by a diarchy. The two founding families: The Mancini’s and the Caruso’s established the town about one hundred years ago to exploit the clay deposits in the area near the bank of the river. The town is relatively self-sufficient. There is enough cropland in the area to support the community most of the year, but they must import grain to make it through the winters. The town is at relatively high elevation which means colder winters than the rest of the Inchani peninsula. The town lies near the Spine of the World, the great mountain range that bisects the continent east to west. The neighboring towns are: Arella six days north and Porante four days southeast. The closest city is Nov Ostoya, an old settlement recently growing in renown as a center for art and science. Additionally, there are a number of smaller villages and hamlets in the hilly region that use the town as a trading hub. Industry/Economy Sibasso’s industry is centered completely around clay and pottery. The Mancini family own the clay mines the city is built on. The Caruso family own the largest of the pottery shops in the town. There are a couple of smaller ones as well as a brick kiln. Additionally, there are many smaller shops and workshops that provide the essentials of a trade-based community. Politics The town is ruled fairly equally by the Mancini and Caruso families. While the Mancini have more money, the Caruso are held in higher regard by the townsfolk and are well liked.
