SACRED KEEPER

Sages who wish to become Sacred Keepers must first show that he or she is a devout follower of the Adonailym faith, and that they also display careful management of their present tasks. He or she must also be chosen by a Master Sacred Keeper who sees these qualities in that person. If these requirements are met, that sage will become an apprentice of the Sacred Keepers, placed under a Senior Keeper. The disciple spends at least a year learning all of the duties and rights of the Sacred Keepers. After a time of discipleship, the candidate will be tested in the field to show if he or she has matured in their path. If that candidate successfully passed the test, a Sacred Conclave will be called with the most senior members of that body of Keepers present. The candidate will be asked to recite the oaths, then be announced as a full Sacred Keeper.

The Duties of the Sacred Keepers is connected to the Adonailym faith, and their heritage as a Sage

1. The guardianship of all locations and treasures considered sacred to the faith. Ensuring that such are well-protected against abuse and corruption
2. Overseeing the usage of all sacred sites and treasures with the authority to punish anyone found purposely mishandling or abusing access. These punishments can be mild to very severe depending on the offense.
3. Deposing of all objects that have been created by mages of all kinds, removing the magic contained within such. They can also cleanse any location of magical influence upon discover or request.
Sacred Keepers are also extensively trained in the combat arts as they are expected to face hostile forces who will try to resist them.

Sacred Keepers are highly respected among the populace where the Adonailym faith is widely practiced, with many people known to give due honor to any Sacred Keeper. This is especially true in Gershon & Kerrosano. Sacred Keepers are easily found in the River Cities of Gershon, being the guardians of the Marpe Waters as members of the River Clans. They are found also in different Sanctums all over Gershon & Kerrosano. Sacred Keepers are not necessarily restricted in one location, be able to travel freely when needed or desired. Many people who learn that a Sacred Keeper have been known to welcome them openly, offering lodging and food. They will also point that Sacred Keeper to any sanctum within that area, and being anything they believe is a sacred treasure for their examination. Law enforcement in particular will often call a Sacred Keeper to handle a sacred treasure, or safely depose of a object used by a mage.
