Shopkeeper. Adventerer. Mother. She will be missed. RIP.

Physical Description

General Physical Condition

Quel'rose is a young elf maiden, with flowing blonde hair and a green tint for her eyes. Moderately attractive, she wore standard commoner clothing, as opposed to wizardly robes. On her back was a large sack, filled with various writing implements, along with a small cat's head poking out from underneath it all.

Personal history

Quel’Rose Dawnblade was born Lamashan 10th, 4420 AR, in Taldor. Born one of a pair of fraternal twins to a pair of elven wizards, Maxamilion, and Cora Dawnblade, along with her sister Jathal, Quel had a happy childhood. Her years before schooling were not particularly notable, though she did show a remarkable intelligence from a young age. As a result, her young childhood was not particularly noteworthy, and for the most part, the young elf was schooled in the traditional family art of spellcraft and magic, while her sister, Jathal, studied the bardic school of the song. At the age of 40, she attended her first day of school at the acclaimed magical academy of Magaambya, deep within the Mwangi Expanse. There she stayed, far removed from family politics, for over a hundred years, earning a Masters degree in Conjuration, with a minor’s in Necromancy, and graduating with honors along with the class of 4562.   Her time within the secluded walls was not without its fair share of hardships, however. Quel’s main school-year bully was a powerfull, and xenophobic drown matriarch by the name of Adagio Del ’Azzo. A powerful arcanist, Quel earned her eternal ire when, for a end-of-year prank, Quel used a prestigation charm to turn the drow’s hair bright blonde for an entire week. In return, Adagio used her bonded item necklace, a red gemstone that looked far more expensive than the drow could ever reasonably afford to get legally, transformed herself into a siren and nearly attempted to mind control the young quel before school staff stepped in to stop the fight.   Still, it was not entirely doom and gloom for the young mage; as she did make a number of friends along the way. The first was an intelligent human wizard by the name of Tara Lunamoon, along with her slightly less gifted sister, Trixie, who was an Assimiar. In addition to both of them, Quel made friends who two other promising arcanists, an elfen nobleman from Old Cheliax names Tothithick Jude, and a fascinating young elven necromancer class named Gwen Paldove. The three of them even stood together in the graduation podum together, far after Tara had left the academy, and Trixie had dropped out.     After graduation, however, all of that changed. No longer dealing with deadlines, and homework, Quel’s life post graduation suddenly...flattened. Truth be told, it had never really occurred to Quel exactly what she was planning to do with her expansive education once she had actually finished schooling. Going back to school for a doctorate in theoretical spellcraft? Maybe. Becoming a war mage?Possibility. But with the Chelliaxan wars long over, there was little need for warriors. The world was now open for her! And she had not a clue what to do with it.   It was during this period of aimless wandering that Quel’Rose found herself on a boat, headed south, towards Osirion. In that boat, along with her, were three people: a human warrior named Lucinda, a Grippli named Koré, And Rhinata, a human cleric of Sarenrae. Each of them signed on for a different reason, but for Quel, it was for adventure! Exploration. In addition, once in Sothis, Dina met a fourth person, a young, human girl named Dina. Eager to learn magic, but not entirely sure how, Quel took the young girl under her wing as her first apprentice, and began to teach the young street urchin basic spellcraft on their way to the temple that the adventurers sought to plunder. And while their time together was short, as Quel taught the young girl the basics, the spark of wondrous magic began to explode in her eyes. The idea that wondrous things could be accomplished with rote memorisation and hand gestures. It was a face that Quel would never forget. Ever after her death.   Reaching the location of their expedition, the tomb of the legendary Pharaoh Sekh-pa-Mefer III, the five of them began their exploration. Fighting monsters, and deadly tombs along the way, they discovered great wealth, but also peril. Within one room, specifically, however, was where Quel was destined to have the experience of a lifetime!   Opening an ancient door, Koré discovered a number of ancient osirion boats, though also discovered a massive swarm of insects inside of it! Thinking fast, Quel withdrew a scroll of Flaming Sphere, and targeted it towards the beetle swarm! And while the swarm certently burnt, so did the boats under which Koré stood! And while the swarm was defeated, Quel could only watch in horror as the frog man was suddenly buried under a massive pile of flammable old wood.     By the time the cleric, Rhinata, got to him, however, it was too late. The old frog has expired under the ash. This immediately kicked off an argument between Quel and Rhinata as to if her spellcraft was justified. And was also the cause of her current condition.   Halfway through the argument, the cleric, seamingly infuriated with Quel Rose's actions, withdrew her weapon, and smashed the elf in the face, driving one of the nails from her spiked mace directly into a vulnerable part of her skull. Quel’s vision blurred and flogged. Quel saw Rhinata’s expression turn from a smug smile, to shock, to horror, as the cleric realized what she had done. Dina screamed out for Quel, but it was too late for the young elf. The last thing Quel’Rose remembered seeing was that of Lucinda the warrior, throwing a dagger towards Dina, as to remove any potetial witnesses for the murder.     Some time later, Quel awoke with a headache out in the hot sands of Osirion. She blinked, and sat up, her head exploding with pain, but perhaps, surprisingly, not blood! Quel was shocked. Perhaps the cleric had managed to save her life? If so, then why leave her laying in the sands of Osiron? Picking herself up, Quel made her way back towards the nearest town, eager to discover what had happened to her companions. As for her apretience, well...this is a different tale....:   https://docs.google.com/document/d/11NIQkBvbvkXboelPsPwiXQTXyPxb9To9CjHsBUhXVoo/edit     -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------     After her attempt at archaeology, Quel’s interest befell using her magic in new, and exciting ways. She continued to take on apprentices, both to pay her own way through life, as well as understanding her own condition. She was halfway through such an apprenticeship when the petty lord she lived under at the time began to institute conscription for some sort of war. Quel’Rose found herself dragged out of her school along with her current apreitence, (Who, ironically enough, also happaned to be named Dina at the time) Their, the two of them were thrown headfirst into a gladiatorial training regime, boosting the elf’s strength, though at the expensive of her patience. The training regime was brutal, up to, and including using advanced technomagic to create extraordinarily accurate, and quite painful, virtual simulations of fights against quasi-real foes. Thankfully, Quel was able to escape the virtual torcure via her curse, along with sudo-suiside, thankfully, just virtually. Still, it was an emotionally traumatizing time for the both of them.   More info: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1BikC3NSxGwRyD47jK6OI_eZVTRFWCO6vY95JbVXhxAk/edit     -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------   After two near-death experiences, Quel decided to use her accumulated wealth to work as a somewhat-safer profession, that of a trader. Which she did. As it happens, a big brain built for math is also the perfect brain to track coins, transactions, and drive a hard bargain. And so Quel put her adventuring days behind her, allowing her magical skills to sag, as she settled into the adult life of a wandering merchant. And while a human merchant may have only years, or decades to practice her trade, Quel had centuries! For the next two hundred years, Quel worked as a traveling merchant, at first, supplying townsfolk with their basic needs, before trading upwards, at first in homemade scrolls, then potions, before full-on magical items. Within a few decades, Quel had amassed a considerable fortune, by the beginning of the Age of Lost Omens, Quel’s home was effectively an Instant Fortress And she was happy.   Alas, it was around 30 years prior that Quel’s worldview was shattered once again, following two key events. The first was, after following up on a tip from a fellow merchant, Quel discovered a young “elven '' girl, training in a temple to the ancient osirion deity of Anubis. After a brief conversation, Quel’Rose discovered the girl as her long-lost niece, Corona! As it happened, during Quel’s time as a merchant, her sister had been captured, raped, and killed by a powerful vampire, and poor Corona was all that remained! Quel nearly burst into tears upon learning the terrible fate that had befallen the poor elf. She even offered to take Corona on as her new apreitence. Corona politely refused, however, as in her short time at the temple to Anubis, she had begun to be inducted into the order as an Inquisitor. And while Quel did see the potential for arcana in the young Dawnblade, she decided instead to allow fate to run its course, even expressing support when her niece too ran off with her first adventuring group, only to console her when she too suffered loss.     The second major development to happen was more recent. During one of Coronado's expeditions through Osirion, Quel heard a knock on the door of her Instant Fortress. To her surprise, she saw a halfling adventurer, an Aasimar, as well as the face of someone she had not seen in over a Century...Dina! The Assimiar explained the situation. Her name was Trixie, and she was a vampire. She had taken Dina in a little over two centuries prior, turned the young girl into a vampire, and had used her in an absolutely-insane plan to take over the world by destabilizing the temple of Sarenre through an incredibly complex cult known as “The Eclipse” However, Trixie herself begin to have second thoughts about the whole situation, resulting in Dina taking over operations of the cult, and nearly killing Trixie herself, before she took, saw the error of her ways, thanks to the efforts of the halfling. Quel was absolutely flabbergasted by the turn of events, but was happy to see Dina alive again, even as a vampire. But perhaps more important, it got her thinking about her own strange, conditional “immortality”   (OOC: This was basically the plot of my last campaign. Feel free to ignore it.)       Some time later, Quel moved in with a half-orc cleric named Riel. And while he too was good at business and managing their estate, Quel quickly grew board with the half-orc. Currently, Quel’s Instant Fortress is parked in the markets of Port Peral, managed both by Riel, and one of her current apprentices, an intelligent, but also deadly assassin named Wendy...one of Trixie’s “science experiments” Both proved quite useful in managing their wealth, and magical item business, however:   https://docs.google.com/document/d/1x76n9xmW2D9Q7gE2UZXkw5DFTe0UIpENstUdHWHktvc/edit     It was two months ago that Quel finally cracked the first key in her curse. She knew it was somehow related to necromancy. And possibly vampirism. As a result, upon hearing from her niece that the small town of Wati was opening up it’s accent crypts for archaeology once more, Quel rushed to purchase the first ticket to Wati. To return to osirion. To study history. And perhaps, just perhaps, learn the nature of her undying curse.
