Metallic Elements
The Fundamental Elements, overflowing in raw arcane energies, can be rather volatile at times. However, when allowed to combine and refine over time, they may take the form of the stable Metallic Elements, also commonly referred to as metals.
Metallic Elements are a part of the second tier of complex elements. They are named for the scale colors of the Dragons and Dragonborn, whose colors are categorized into chromatic, for their matte coloration, and metallic, for their sheen. The Metallics, like the Fundamentals, are commonly used in magic, but extraordinarily difficult to create, and even shape. This has allowed the mundane artisans to exercise their craft, relying more on patience than raw power, much like the Metallics themselves.
Notably, Metallics can be bent with force, but this generally weakens the material. It can only be reformed and shaped through the heat of Fire.
The list of Metallics includes:
- Bismuth (suspected Dragonscale)
- Chrome
- Tin
- Copper (Dragonscale)
- Gold (Dragonscale)
- Lead (Dragonscale)
- Silver (Dragonscale)
- Iron
- Platinum (suspected Dragonscale)
- Zinc
- Nickel
Additionally, the Metallics can be combined to form an intermediate tier of complexity known as Alloys. Alloys allow artisans to combine the attributes of multiple metals; however, they may not always behave as expected. Some alloys can also be found in nature, and can be more common than pure metals.
The list of Alloys includes:
- Amalgam (Dragonscale)
- Brass (Minotaur)
- Bronze (Minotaur)
- Electrum (Minotaur)
- Pewter (Minotaur)
