Bathys, Lady of the Deep

Lady of the Deep Bathys

Bathys, the older twin sister of Kymathys, Lady of the Waves is worshipped as a minor deity of deep seas, lakes, and calm waters in general.

She is also often considered the matron deity of aquatic plant life.

Believers often consider Bathys and her sister to be aspects, or even daughters, of Hesjing, the Founder of Water, with Thrae, the Founder of Air usually being suggested to be the father.

She is sometimes confused or combined with Ator, Lady of the Underground as one deity of the depths. She is then often depicted as a reaper of those who died at sea.

Other interpretations characterize her as an opposing counterpart to Kymathys, instead of a balanced companion. They often conflate her with Okarra, Lady of Lore and picture her as a mapmaker; turning the chaotic waves of Kymathys into navigable order.
