United Lands
Nostalgia holds a powerful sway over our emotional memories. We remember things with more fondness than they deserve. The pictures in our minds of How Things Used to Be are lit in the most favorable light, given the softest edges. All the roughness is polished away by the churning sands of time and perspective. Tumbled like stones in the sea.
Structure
The ruling family consists of the monarch, elected from among the elegible descendants of the former monarch and spouse. The election allows the people to be directly involved in their governance. It is a direct popularity vote.
Each island elects a representative to serve on a regional council. Each regional council elects one of their member to represent the region within the Council of Regents. This council is advised by the monarch, and it is the monarch who breaks all ties within the council.
Culture
Tige and Talla established a tradition of serving the people, rather than ruling them. In general, the members of the royal family elected to lead followed this tradition, though some were broad and misguided in thier interpretation of 'serving.'
