Rouleek the Moon

The brightest object in Argentii's Sky, the moon (properly named Rouleek...which just means 'moon') is—as everyone knows—where Dragons come from. At least, according to the old legends.... Every 6,859 years the dragons return to the Continent of Argentii in order to hatch their hidden eggs and lay new ones. Myths and legends agree that all animal life on Argentii—including People—came from mishatched dragon eggs. This is absolutely true; the length of gestation allows for a great deal of genetic error to creep into the development. Most of these errors produce eggs that do not hatch and only become formations of crystalline rejection and neglect, waiting to be discovered and harvested for whatever precious properties might be inherent. It is the moon that is the dragons' home; still, the hatchling dragons cannot make the flight for several decades after their emergence. This produces an abundance of dragons across Argentii, many of them young and uneducated in the ways of getting along with people. Young dragons are particularly dangerous to grazing herds, young people, and household pets. According to lore passed down from the dragons themselves, the moon is a hostile and unforgiving place where the gian lizards are only in the middle of the food chain. This, of course, is why they must travel through the cold void to reach a safe place, lest their unhatchd offspring be hunted, cracked, and eaten. If the dragons have spoken of the moon's predations beyond just "it is dangerous for us there," there is no record of such within the entire collection at Library Inn.
