Nomadic wandering people oringally from Tilth who have spread all over the world as Sandshield traders.

Always on the lookout for new and innovative ways to apply the amazing fabric outside of filtration, they are a critical economic powerhouse that is essential to supporting the nomadic peoples that wander the Tilth outside of the protection of the Bubble Wall that surrounds and protects Central Tilth from the omni-present swirling dust and sand that make up the barren, industrial wasteland.

It was the meefere who originally discovered the Orbshrooms growing in the wild wastelands outside of the city. It was the meefere who introduced the spores to the graffiti artists and other punks who began experimenting in the Wall District within the city to see if the notoriously hardy plant would be of any use in the toxic soil found between the glass foundaries and the wall.

Playing on this trade of sandshield throughout the islands, they have learned to identify needs and match them with available resources and exports from other islands, and have therefore cornered the entire black-market as it pertains to trans-continental trade. While local guilds, gangs, and bands might be stronger among a small, localized island grouping (familiar waters and all that nonsense), the meefere are by far more connected and well-supplied to meet the finer nich industries that dot every island from the east to the west, regardless of legalities and regulations.

It's sort of their thing. They're pirates, after all.
