The story of Gambling Hansel king of Balvarin
Once upon a time there lived a gambler named Hansel. Hansel lived in a small house in the capital city of Bal in the human country of Balvarin. He lived with his sister Gretel and his father., Mr. Korbes. Long ago Hansel and Gretel had gotten stuck in the Black Forest because their step mother wanted them dead. In the forest they found a house made of candy and gingerbread with a witch living inside it. The witch invited them in and trapped them in the house, but with cleverness and quick thinking Gretel was able to kill the witch by shoving her into an oven and holding the door of the oven shut until the witch finally died in the flames. After getting home they found that their stepmother was gone and their father would not tell them where she went and they did not care. They lived happily for some time but eventually the stress of the events from the gingerbread house caught up to them and they began to cope with that stress in their own ways. Gretel went and joined the military to work through her feelings and feel useful in the world while Hansel turned to gambling. One day while Hansel and his father were home a knock came on the door and when they answered they found standing at the door a young man dressed in a large green coat and besides him a priest named saint peter.
"I have come to ask to stay here I can pay you." Said the young man "I see no reason to turn you away." Said Hansel And then the young man and saint Peter stayed the night "Dear Hansel could you grab some food from the market." The young man said handing a pile of gold coins to Hansel "Of course." Hansel went towards the market and came to a group of gamblers and unable to resist gambled until all the money was gone. Hansel went back to the house and claimed to have lost the money in the street unable to find it. No one believed this but again the Young man gave Hansel a small stash of coins and asked him to again go out and gather some food from the market. This time Hansel avoided the gamblers and came back to the house with food for all. They ate and during this time the young man asked Hansel "Could you fetch some wine from your cellar?" "There is none left sir." "Check anyway and wine will pour from the tap." Hansel went and checked and then wine of the best quality poured from the tap. The house went to sleep and in the morning the young man said to Hansel "Thank you for your hospitality and in return for your help I will give you three favors of any kind for I am the god Gavend and you have helped me in this time." Stunned Hansel thought for a moment and then asked for the Deck of the best hand, the Dice of infinite luck, and the Trapping Tree. Time passed and Hansel went to King Rosalieb and asked him to play a game of dice with him. Finding this fun the king began playing. They played deep into the night and Hansel being smart gave the king the wine from his cellar. The king became more and more intoxicated and the bets became larger and larger. Hansel was clever to not let himself win every time and the king felt as if he could win. Foolish the king finally bet his title and kingdom that the dice would roll anything but a seven. The dice were cast and Hansel desired for the result to be a seven and then the dice rolled a 1 and a 6. The king was taken aback and rejected that the deal every happened, but the dice given by a god could not be denied and Hansel became king of Balvarin. Using this power Hansel gave his sister the highest position possible in the military and moved into the castle with great glee.
