Three plucky friends and students of Antecea's Arcanium are expelled for an incident involving a Wand of Wonder. Echoless (who at this time called herself Benevolence), Brynn, and Tovenaar (who would one day become Shepherd) went on a wacky quest to redeem themselves, making friends and gaining experience along the way.

Their mission? Find an old relic that had been detected in the mysterious Liminean Wilds by the Arcanium, but due to bureaucratic red tape, were unable to send anyone to investigate it themselves. As fortune would have it, the little band of misfits were successful in their quest. Unfortunately, their success involved the release of a Fundamental Avatar who had been imprisoned for millennia by the Former: Catalcysm.   Powerless to stop him themselves, the trio nearly met their demise then and there, were it not for the timely intervention of the upper echelon of the Arcanium, who defeated Cataclysm in a pitched, bloody battle. Of course, for beings like Cataclysm, "death" was a minor setback at worse, as they would soon discover for themselves...
