Because of the events of their first interaction with Cataclysm, Brynn's soul had been marked by him. Even though Cataclysm himself was imprisoned with his idol, upon his death, Brynn was still drawn into Cataclysm's realm. Because of this, any attempts to resurrect him with traditional methods were doomed to fail.

Fortunately, Tovenaar learned of Brynn's fate in his council with Cataclysm. Even as his struggles with Rapture raged, he was able to contact his old adventuring group and beseech them to take on one last quest: delve into Elemental Chaos and free Brynn's soul. Ultimately, they succeeded, and the young elf was restored to life.
