The Gallian Disaster

The island kingdom of Gallia, located in the archipelago province of Lapis Teras, is completely wiped out by a sudden volcanic eruption.

In the decades leading up to the disaster, the kingdom had come under siege by an army of magically-augmented and mutated hobgoblins called Uur-Dalen who sought "the treasure of Gallia."   Gallia had made a name for itself as a refuge of civility in a sea of pirates and warlords within the islands of Lapis Teras. Despite their "peaceful" exterior, however, Gallia possessed some of the most potent war machines of the age, which they used to absolutely crush any who dared attempt plunder their magic and riches. It was only through overwhelming numbers that the Uur-Dalen, a pirate-kingdom of hobgoblins, were able to prove a significant threat to the island kingdom.
