Personal history

Elaneril was once a simple soldier in the army of the elves, where she fought a great many battles against drow incursions onto the surface and against the rising threat of frost giants in the north. It was during one of these missions that the Crown Princess of the elves, Celese Orellon, was kidnapped by the drow, and Elaneril's unit was assigned to track her down. The ensuing chase led to the deaths of much of Elaneril's unit, a mid-winter crossing of Hell's Point that nearly killed the remainder, and the ultimately successful rescue of the Crown Princess, whom Elaneril was eventually able to return to Illaier while evading enemy capture, forming the basis of a life-long friendship between the two. Elaneril was inducted into the Order of the Star Sentinels, the guardians of the kingdom for her courage in service to the Crown, and the prospects of House Annuwen, which until then had been considered only a middling player in the politics of the kingdom, skyrocketed with the attentions of Crown Princess Celese, who requested Elaneril as the captain of her personal guard.   When Celese Orellon became the queen of the elves, Elaneril Annuwen became the Guard-Captain of the Glass Palace, and continued her service to her monarch. Throughout her years on the throne, Queen Celese faced many assassination attempts by the drow and other enemies of the elves, and Elaneril Annuwen was primarily responsible for defending her queen and seeking justice against those who wished her ill. After a particularly dangerous incident where Queen Celese was exposed to an Abyssal poison, and Elaneril was forced to travel to the Reaches in search of the cure, the Queen reforged the moonblade of House Annuwen, Elendil, imbuing it with powerful enchantments and wards against evil in thanks.   However, this was not to last; as the conflict known as the War of Winter began, the elven capital of Illaeir was attacked in force by a combined army of drow infiltrators and demons summoned from the Abyss. The first wave of infiltrators breached the Queen's chambers in the Glass Palace, and Celese Orellon was slain before Elaneril could arrive. As the elves began to be overwhelmed, Elaneril began the evacuation of the city in conjunction with Lord Heian Tassarion, and gave her life battling monstrous demons while the civilians escaped. Her moonblade, Elendil, became lost in the chaos, and although Elaneril Annuwen and her heroism would become legend, her death heralded the total collapse of the elven kingdom at the onset of the true War of Winter.
