Xarnathi

The Xarnathi are more myth than fact, having only been seen a few times, and even then not clearly. It is said that if you can see one clearly, you are wither dead or soon to be. It is uncertain whether the Xarnathi are spirits, demons, or an unknown species. They are mainly found in The Unkown Region, but some sightings have occurred in Empire controlled space. The species, are able to travel through walls, and thick objects, as shown by their ability to enter almost any space ship, and thus are mostly unaffected by any deterring technology. However, some devices are being tested, such as high sound waves, or frequencies, although will little success as sightings of Xarnathi are random and unpredictable.

The Xarnathi can also whisper. This is an eerie experience, as the sound they make seems just out of reach, like a far away noise that is right next to you. The sound can also frequently be heard after and sometimes before they visit a ship, place, city or any other location. If a person does hear the whispering, and it sounds to be getting closer and further away at the same time, it often means the Xarnathi are close, watching, and sometimes visible.

Appearance:

The Xarnathi are shadowy beings, that range in height depending on their will, some tall, others shorter. They distort light, and so remain almost completely invisible to the human eye, and only appear in people's peripheral vision. It's hard to give an accurate description to something that has rarely been seen, but from what has been recorded, the Xarnathi resemble humans, with two arms and two legs, a head, and rough facial features, that are blurry and not fully defined. Sometimes people see their eyes, which they claim to hold entire galaxies within. Although these claims are often seen as fake, due to the madness induced by looking at the figure's eyes.

Xarnathi Magic

From what has been recorded and studied about the race of shadowy figures, their use of magic is mostly unknown. However some magicians speculate they are a race of powerful spellweavers who use magic to execute all of their actions, such as traveling through walls, appearing in random places suddenly, and their shadowy appearance.

Xarnathi Abilities

Mind Fracturing - Already mentioned earlier, the Xarnathi can shatter minds, and induce a madness upon victims, especially if the person looks into their eyes. This ability is very useful as it offers a way for them to remain secret and unknown

Dream Piercing - The Xarnathi can pierce into people's dreams, appearing the same way they appear in real life, as shadowy figures, whispering, or unease. Most cases report this happens before or after they visit, and can sometimes be a clue to their arrival.
