Kythari

The Kythari are insectoids that primarily live in The Dominion controlled space. With large translucent wings, powerful mandibles, tall skeletal bodies, and antenna that reach over their heads, the Kythari are striking, and sometimes frightening. However, they are a generally peaceful race, residing in the forests of many planets, including some outside of Dominion space. Although not as technologically advanced as some other races, the Kythari, are very intelligent, showing this with fast interstellar travel, weapons, machines, etc.. Because the species originated from Dominion space, they are very magic sensitive, with some newborns being able to out compete older more experienced human magicians, increasing empire's want to enlist them onto their ranks of military and spellweavers.

Appearance:

The Kythari are similar to praying mantis' as they have strong mandibles, pincers, and long legs, as well as a few differences, mainly being the large, translucent wings that sprout from their backs. The 4 wings grant the Kythari the ability to fly through the air with precision and speed. Along with great movement, the species also have large antenna that protrude from their heads, giving them excellent environment perception, being able to sense movements, shifts in air currents, temperature change, and encroaching objects. The Kythari have long limbs, with surprising strength given they are quite skeletal, that aid in their movement throughout the forests of their planets.

Magical Abilities:

The Kythari are extremely magic sensitive, with countless newborns being affected by the constant streams of magical energy flowing through the galaxy. Compared to the average human, or humanoid, the Kythari are able to learn the basics of magic within weeks, instead of months to years. Like all magicians the Kythari can cast spells, affect matter, teleport, destroy and also protect. They are also subject to Magic Conductive Metal, and other magical items.
