Empyrean Forest

Geography

Stretching from the north and south coast of D'yalmaar and to the east nearly to the Daltalan border and the west to the Camnhir border, the Empyrean forest is a daunting feature to traverse. Along the coasts the forest encroaches heavily on the beaches, leaving at most only 100 feet of sand before hitting the treeline. Normally the harsh winters would make the forest bare, stripping the trees of their leaves and some branches, if it were not for Winteroak. Other than Winteroak, there are thick, obtrusive roots, heavy layers of moss, and cramped streams. Only the D'yalmaar River has wider space while moving through the forest, and even then, it is narrower through the Empyrean than any other stretch.   A few places within the forest have been cultivated (either by natural or magical means) to have comfortable gaps in the thickness of the trees, and such places are the only viable locations for settlements within the forest. Due to the density of the tree spread, much of the forest is pretty dark.   There are a few marked entrances to the forest, though the paths all converge on the same road.

Climate

The forest is temperate and warm during the summer, but surprisingly harsh winters blow through.

Fauna & Flora

The forest has an impressive variety of tree and plant types, but it is well-known for its population of Winteroak. The largest population of Winteroak is specifically in this forest.

Digging at least a few feet underground, anyone can observe that the ground structure of the forest is heavy with Archstone. The mild magic enchantment of Archstone actually helps feed the Winteroak and maintain the trees' hefty skeleton.

    History

The forest is littered with the architectural remains of the Cirae civilization. The Cirae were created in the depths of the forest.
