    Founding of Shou Lang
    Founding

As the different ethnic groups of Asora spread out and make their homes near where their bunkers were built, the first to truly seize lands quickly are the Shou. A former leader of one of the shelters, now turned nationalist warlord, Chén Su (陈诉 “to state or assert oneself”) rallies his people at what remains of the pre-calamity city Kuo Te L’ung. Mostly sunk into the sea, the followers of Su settle in the ruins and clear the many beasts and monsters of the ruins. Legends of Chén Su speak of him finding a powerful blade in the wreckage of a crashed starship, that he names Ame-no-Murakumo-no-Tsurugi(天叢雲剣, "Heavenly Sword of Gathering Clouds"). Using this blade to summon great winds and wield the energy of storms, even halting storms as they begin to happen, he claims the ruined starship as his own, building his palace inside it and claiming himself emperor of Shou Lang Wáng Guó (受朗王国 “Clear and Bright Kingdom''). Over time the empire is simply called Shou Lang, a claim backed up by its apparently hundred years of perfect weather from 293 BC - 199 BC.

Shou Lang continues its campaign across the lands north of the Alora Jungle for these two decades while also consolidating its imperial and legalist ideology built up by Chén Su over the lands. This leads to the beginnings of the bureaucratic system that Chén Su believed would lower the power of local nobles and warlords, instead having an imperial state and many bureaucrats ruling the peasantry directly. Along with legal advances, Shou Lang begins the first system on the continent to standardize weights and currency with Imperial measures, as well as beginning a standardization of language to what is called Imperial Shou instead of the many dialects and variants created from years of separation pre-calamity.

During Lothalian occupation, the Turami human population is separated into two groups, with almost half of the population being sent in great caravans back to the Lothalian heartland, and those who remain bound into slavery and made to mine and farm the lands for their Lothalian masters. In all occupied lands the people suffered, but worse even were those brought to the cities of Lothalian. These elves, known for their timeless beauty and splendor, had crafted mighty citadels and palaces in the nation of Alu Lotha with the blood and labor of stolen peoples and lands. The artistic and technological progress of the Lothalian elves was unrivaled even in the present day, but while their knowledge and wealth grew, their mercy slowed into nonexistence. Every waking moment the slaves toiled and suffered, and those who were not broken by labor or torn into sinew and muscle by endless torture prayed for hope, and for the longest time their prayers would go unanswered.

She prays to this divine light and is granted a pact with him as her captors had harmed the planet greatly in their debauched ways. Khulan, created early and decades before his people, or any beastfolk at all, would suddenly exist, appearing in the cave in shining green light and then aided her in gathering slaves for her rebellion, stamping his mighty hooves when need be, or using his divine control over nature to shape and destroy Lothalian patrols and operations.

Never halting, always pushing forward, peasants, dissidents, and warriors that follow him are witness to nearly impossible feats. They called him Lu Bu, the Lightstrike, because of his left hand, which was said to fire a killing light, melting away opposition and setting flame to the old order.    In late 32 BC, news of this peasant march reached the Emperor, and an advance army met Lu Bu and his Lightstrike rebellion as they marched to Kuo Te L’ung, and those loyal to the emperor were utterly decimated by Lu Bu, who was said to have killed a third of the army himself.   They called him Lu Bu, the Bloody, as he drank it in victory, and all who saw his feats were awestruck by him. Lu Bu protested, claiming the entire army should rush the city immediately while defenses were not used to their numbers. He also dismissed those wood and jungle elves that rose up alongside him, claiming he would destroy them himself if they did not flee.    They called him Lu Bu, the Blamer, for he grew angry when tactics used did not appeal to his endless swordfury. Angered by the siege, Lu Bu rushed the gates of Kuo Te L’ung and demolished them, interrupting the siege and taking a straight path to the palace, destroying buildings and people in his path to the Emperor, whom he utterly disintegrated with his killing light.    They called him Lu Bu, Triumphant, because use of his name became synonymous with it, and his army still fighting to enter the city cheered when they saw his banner approaching, his hair and body stained brown with the blood of his foes.

Despite not originally having innate magical abilities, over the years, most prominent animal folk races of Shou Lang gain magical and human-like qualities by generations of influence of the Yokai as well as their Kami getting more in touch with humanity and Shou culture. This is in stark contrast to the Loa in the far north, as they battle with the many mortal races of Ekrune, they become more bestial and animalistic.

This new law disallows the normal practice wherein Mazdayasna rulers and landlords without a male heir are allowed to “adopt” a close friend or someone politically relevant who would then have all the personal and political rights of a son. Instead of allowing this, the land without an heir is annexed by the state. Though the scope of the doctrine was limited to dependent Mazdayasna men, these annexations aroused much alarm and resentment among most of the non-landed population as well. Keeping Khalid’s creation a secret, he makes a promise with Ammon that neither of them will harm each other, and makes it so that their children can never harm each other, claiming to want to keep dynastic infighting to a minimum. Ammon, seeing no reason to not agree to this, swears this oath with Anubis, who then reveals Khalid as his creation and then fuses with them entirely. Khalid then declares themself the true pharaoh of Sothis despite Ammon being crowned by Osiris and Isis, and enrages Ammon with their many claims to Ammon’s many titles and subjects. Furious from these claims, Ammon fights with and strikes down the much weaker Khalid easily, breaking the Oath twice by slaying the fused Khalid with Anubis. The power of this oath shattering weakens Ammon severely and completely destroys the body of Khalid, whose soul is cast out into the sands to hopefully never return. The still living Pharaoh, dying from his wounds and the oath breaking damaging his soul, is mummified alive and sealed in a golden sarcophagus to preserve him, where he rules for the foreseeable future.

A battle in the city results in the death of Ikit Claw and many ninjas, and Throth’s forces are routed as skavenslaves rush all entrances to the city, failing to break defenses and eventually slow to a retreat. Over the course of three months, Dwarven kill squads travel the middle layer, destroying bridges, collapsing buildings, and creating outposts for greater warning in the future.
