Roer District

The largest of the four Districts of the Kingdom of Anduril. Roer is located to the South-East of the Kingdom and encompasses all the territory between the Valcut River to the South-West and the Vaitafe River to the North. The geography is predominantly grassland, which is used for farming and ranching. About a fourth of the District is occupied by the vast Cassapia Forest, the depths of which are considered neutral territory. The main exports of the District are fresh produce such as milk, sheep's wool, farm-grown vegetables and other crops, and lumber from Cassapia Forest. Some fish and seafood trade also happens, but is not as predominant as some of its neighbors. Roer is the wealthiest of the four Districts, with the most fertile lands.   The territory is governed by House Leander, currently headed by Archduke Lavi el Leander. The capital of Roer, which also serves as the seat of power for the Archduke, is the city of Ordis. The Archduke's family is served by House Leon, which holds the title of Viceroy. The territory is divided between the four Duke houses - Mueller, Aurelius, d'Epinay, and Langstone. Other noble families include Houses Ayer, Caspar, Warren, Jeritza, Hyarms, Bismark, Lowell, Vidal, Van Der Hoof, Boccasino, Wulfmonger, and Barat. All noble families of Roer are part of the Noble Alliance, which meets every four years or when summoned by Archduke Leander. All nobles have a duty to uphold the peace and safety of their territories, big or small, though squabbles over land disputes or taxes are not uncommon. While a superior lord is expected to handle conflict between two minor lords within their land, the ultimate authority lies with the Archduke, whose word can only be superseded by an order from His Majesty the King.
