Session 40: The Tiger, Then on to Sigil

Pearl asks if we have ivory/horn. We give one of the big elk antlers.   Tomzo is part Gith and part halfling. Mom was Littlefoot.   Tomzo and Pearl - Cernan’s name is from a dead language. They picked it to be unique. A goblin language. The men of that culture are worthless. However back in time, at one point thier world was turned to darkness and a plague spread. The queens son found a crystal shared that was imbued with evil in the underdark. Had been corrupted. He shoved it into his own heart and it purified the crystal. It gave life again and he was healed. His name was Cernan. The name came to be known as “the male that has contributed”. An honorable name.   They know the world that calls Celestials is Travidor. They are 90% sure Cernan Aelar is from there.   Pearl says he is like Landis, but different. Tomzo’s father created me to be his friend. Rashid Fen Rey says for them to get to know each other.   As Rashid watches the two interact. Pearl was carved out of a single Pearl. He could fold up and be a pearl. Pearl’s spirit is an air element - very chaotic and whimsical. Rashid wonders what a fire elemental would be like.   We had asked for a map. Pearl makes a map for us.   We are in a plain that connects to everything else - the Outlands. There’s a gate town for each respective plain. Mountains and hills over by faunel - the gate to beastlands. We are close to that.   Pearl is making a visage for Cernan. Will show when we’re done.   Stromy has troubles understanding infinites in infinites but with an edge.   Tomzo believes we need to go to Sigil to find out what we need and where to go.   (We are near Faunel in the Beastlands.)   What is the purpose of Sigil? Pearl talks about when a prime dies you become a petitioner - you end up on one of the planes. Your “spirit”. “Berks” -> new word insult. Certain beings that represent things like like ideals. The Lady wraps around her the city around her. She (according to some) represnts true neutrality.   Gods can’t go in to Sigil.   Rashid asks about if we belive, it will it come true. The Signers believe that they dreamed everything up. Although they can’t agree on who’s doing the dreaming.   We have the “cant” of it. In Sigil there are no gods - so others of opposite beliefs could argue or go to tea together. As long as the demons fight the devils we dont’ have to be involved.   Tonight we celebrate. Stormy sings, plays the drum, dances. We have ice cream. Stormy tries to teach Tomzo a dance. Cita dances with him. Tomzo does not seem to run out of energy.   Tomorrow we go after the tiger.   We take turns on watch. Stormy saw a silhouette far away. We are being watched. Later it’s gone.   Tomzo leaves and comes back. Was bored.   In morning. Pearl helps make breakfast. Tomzo says we’re being followed by a girl Tabaxi. We don’t know here.   Pearl finishes his project. It’s what Cernan’s mother looked like. She truly was beautiful.  

Hunting the Tiger

We go one way and Tomzo and Pearl go the other. We’ll catch it in between.   We have some elk meat to use as bait - tho we are good too. In the first hour - we don’t notice much. Stormy uses speak w/ animals - a sparrow. Getting nowhere.   We send Shimmer out on a scouting mission. Shimmer isn’t looking the way something is happening. Stormy is surprised and attacked.   Giant smiledon bounds out of nowhere, knocks stormy down, bites her, and roars.

Thoradin did 75 points of damage!

Cita hits the cat on the nose!

Rashid will use Spiderclimb - grabs and arrowshaft and and yanking.

Landis heals Stormy for 8 points.

(We did 139 points of damage in 1 round.)   The cat does not like Thoradin!

Cita tries flash bang again.

Stormy takes last hit on it before it goes down.

Rashid bails uber graceful!

Stormy tells it to rest well and go to the happy hunting grounds.

Stormy believes he will go there.

Tomzo and Pearl come around. “you didn’t wait for us?”  

Visiting the Village

We can come to the village and let them know. Stormy wants the fangs and claws. Cernan wants the hide to give it to the towns people. Half a day’s travel.   Near dusk when we get there. Tomzo rolls out the hide. There’s cheers. There’s many like Mr. Wong. And a metal square box with legs, and many other types we’ve not met before. No Tabaxi. The box is a Modron - Plane of Pure Law. Mechanical beasty. Thoradin meets him.   AyeFour is the modron, the blacksmith, who shows him the shop. Everything is arranged in a “certain way”. All pegs same distance apart. things have crisp edges where there we would not expect.   Name of Village: Kay Cerai   Why is AyeFour here? Fell through a gate. Stormy complements his work and recieves a dagger - very precise. brass tanto.   Rashid asks if there is a yew tree. While villageres celebrate. He sits under it and things. (His runes told him to do this.)   Landis helps put the bricks back on the blacksmith shop with AyeFour Smith.  

Morning

We know about where we need to go. Tomzo and Pearl are gone, got bored. Landis helped rebuild AyeFour’s forge room.   Minor Shopping:

local botanist does have healing salves - 50gp each standard 6 HP. 4 greaters 200gp each. Older lady is thrilled and planning trips for supplies.

Shimer asks AyeFour for a box for her elemental - 80 gp (Stormy help her).

Shimer watches him. Brass and gold. a brass box w/ hinged lid. Gold on inside. She’s impressed.

Rashid talks with the local magic user, a teifling. He saw Rashid sleeping under the yew. Rashid wants him to look at the sword to see if he can tell the magic. There’s quite a bit of magic. Not harnessed. It’s pretty wierd, Berk.

Stormy looks for a bard. No bards.

Cernan is struggling with the idea of groups coming together from very different ideals. A guy in rags talks with Cernan. ”Those gods are just mortals like you and me. It’s all just a waste. There ain’t no truth.”

Cita let Hubai out to hunt for mice.

Cernan summons Bridger in the morning. Thoradin tries and does not summon Stirling.

Off and About

Trying to follow Tomzo’s directions. Skirting the hills hubwise. Getting marshy. Find a larger spot that’s sort of dry. We opt to rest in the boat. Watches while we rest.   Stormy and Shimmer on first walk. She’s looking for the Tabaxi. She’s starting to think this plane is affecting her abilities. (I’ve been rolling not good all afternoon.) She’s attacked. Screams blue bloody murder and is in a ball. Bridger is freaked out. Shimmer has her wings around Stormy.   (She had this happen:

  What they see is a fog thing, represents darkness. A void in our vision. Can’t see. Not normal or natural.  

Roll for initiative!

Stormy not roll - but Shimmer does.   Claw comes out of the water and attacks Thoradin.

Stormy hisses at the thing. Her claws pop out.

14 a miss.

Rashid’s firebolt really hurt it.

Cita takes it out!

Stormy leaps out and tears at it.

Cernan tries to heal her. She attacks. But it heals her a bit. She’s feeling a little better. And he tries again. She’s healed up. But still not understanding.

Rashid tries remove curse. Slam, she’s ok. Thank you!

The darkness is gone.

We try to id the thing. Rashid heard of ta thing that can suck out your memories. Hydroloth.   Stormy’s making a bangle of claws and stuff we killed. Was a dark black crystal - onyx in it’s head.   Resting again. Make it through the night. Whew!  

Next day

land gets dryer

come across a flat stone on the ground. crystaly and sparkly. Veins of quarts. Cernan sees the shimmery line. It’s a gate. Have to think about a butterfly for the gate. Woosh it opens.

Sigil

Swirling. Look down in - a street but we’re looking from under.

Cernan tries to bring Bridger through. Dismisses him.

We’re looking around. But the ground we’re on curves up in like the shape of a tire. Ringworld.

There’s like razorvine everywhere. Like it’s trying to eat away at the city. Then there’s strange people everywhere. Crazy menagerie of everything.

Shimmer isn’t there. Stormy is freaked and calls for Shimmer in the Dragon tongue. We get Chuck. (I can call her when I’m out of Sigil.) I get a second dragon - but one at a time.

Cernan tries to touch the razor vine - it looked for him. Cut him.

Stormy wants lunch.

Zombie wants to guide us through the city, Rowan. For a mere 40 gp a day. Bargained down to 35. Try the food first, then we hire him.

Rowan needs to borrow something and opens a gate with a bugger. The air is full of soot and it’s hot. Ring of hammers everywhere. 80% of people are dwarves here. Thoradin making lots of things, mostly ornate and spiky armor and weapons.

Those in the Harmonium are hard heads - red spiky armor.

Chuck points to a Dwarf. “That guy’s the blood.” This armor is light and super mobile. Hammering away at an axe. Amazing! That’s Glarick.

Rowan wants to drag us off. Wants us to find dinner. We haven’t paid him yet.

We end up in an open-air place. Beautiful and ornate. Very little razor vine. A huge inner plaza.

Cernan is starting to make a map. Starts to develop a mental map of where things are related to each other.
