Ernesto Salemanco
Minister of Trade
Ermesto Salemanco is the second-oldest of the royal siblings, Governor of Riocruce and Minister of Trade for the Aracian dynasty. He is the most jovial and easy-going of the Salemanco family, preferring lavish parties and celebrations to the hard work of political and security philosophy. This frivolous nature has given him a reputation as a bit of a blundering fool, though that is largely over-stated. Ernesto has a brilliant mind for the things he cares about: economics, trade and industry - and has little time for anything else.
This hyper-focus, as well as his good-hearted nature, has allowed Ernesto to expand the influence of Aracia throughout the Merchant Sea. He is responsible for many of the most lucrative trade deals that have monetized the production of Aracian Steel, brining new wealth to the nation that will help to prop up his brother Rodrigo's efforts at democratic reform - something Ernesto has embraced whole-heartedly.
Still, Ernesto is often ignorant to the plight of the working people in Riocruce and in Aracia more broadly. He has been known to support corrupt nobles and merchants, not through direct contact, but through lack of action. He is easily flattered and prone to looking the other way when his own friends are involved. This has made him a target for many of the more revolutionary aspects of Aracian society.
After Rodrigo's disappearance in 5632, Ernesto briefly took up the mantle of Sovereign Prince - a role he never wanted - to keep the remnants of the country together that were opposed to Giancalo's insurrection. He is responsible for hiring the party to search for his brother, out of concern, but also out of a sense that he was over his head. Once Rodrigo was found, Ernesto eagerly returned the crown.
