Gelio

Side by side with his partner, Plirosi, Gelio is one of the two widely-worshipped Halfling Automaths, responsible for bringing life to the Halfling people on the First Day. He emerged from the Enchanted Greathouse with the other two Automaths, Plirosi and Katergaris, to the fields of Yorth that surrounded it to create the Halflings.   According to legend, Gelio followed behind the sturdy Plirosi, playing a cheerful tune on his pipes and planting the seeds in the soil of Yorth that would grow into the Halfling race, prancing and skipping about as he went, while Plirosi ploughed the land and tilled the soil in front of him.   After the seeds were planted, Gelio and Plirosi together joined in Gelio's song, shifting from the bright and merry tune of the planting to a powerful and romantic piece, Plirosi's velvety yet rustic voice the perfect accompaniment to Gelio's nimble pipe-work. As they finished their song, life had entered the bodies of the newly-grown Halflings, and their spirits were Awakened. In hushed whispers, many will mention that it was Katergaris, the third of the Halfling Automaths, who reached out with his mind with powerful magic to lead the song of Awakening, but in mainstream Halfling theology, he played no major part and simply stood by idly, waiting for his moment of treachery.   Gelio is depicted as slender and nimble, with deft movements, darting to and fro among the fields with his pipes. To the halfling people, he symbolizes the merriment that is a fundamental part of Halfling identity, counterpart to Plirosi. With sandy hair and mahogany skin, it is said that the Lightfoot Halflings carry something of Gelio in them.   Like his partner, Plirosi, Gelio has a fundamental connection to the process of agriculture. Even among non-Halfling cultures of the Awakened, farmers often offer prayer to Gelio (and Plirosi), in hopes of a good harvest.   Priests and clerics of Gelio practice the domains of Nature, Peace, and Life.
