Culture
Shared customary codes and values
Kiryk are zealous belivers of the Steppe Rider traditions and culture.
Art & Architecture
The same as most other tribes the Kiryk live in yurts, round portable tents made from light wooden frame covered with animal skins. Yurts can be easily disassembled when the tribe is moving.
Birth & Baptismal Rites
The Kiryk observe the same birth traditions as other tribes. The mother has to stay inside the yurt with the child for 10 days.
Coming of Age Rites
Kiryk follow the common Steppe Rider coming of age ritual of building a yurt, but also have their own traditions. As a symbol of adulthood boys recieve a dagger. In order to become a full member of the tribe they need to pass the test of strength and endurance. During it boys have their backs cut with a knife and need to endure it without showing any signs of suffering. If a boy shouts, starts to cry or asks to stop he is expeled from the tribe.
Funerary and Memorial customs
The same as other tribes the Kiryk bury their dead in a so-called village of the dead which location is known only to the shaman. Revealing it to the rest of the tribe would anger the spirits of the ancestors. When the family transports a body to the village of the dead, everyone is blindfolded and lead by the shaman. When someone removes their blindfold during the journey they are killed on site. This is a unique custom of the Kiryk.
Ideals
