Elias is a master wizard and close friends with Jon of Vonn. He is the mastermind behind the here-to-what-if spell that led the group to Ancora in the first place. He is a recent widower and is raising his daughter, Lucia, alone.

Jon snuck into Elias' home with Geoffrey as a young apprentice. He had recently cursed himself and been kicked out of town. Geoffrey refused to teach him directly but allowed Elias to mentor him. The two worked together to get Jon's magic to stop draining the reserves (with the help of dragons). Elias taught Jon everything he knows about magic, but the usefulness of a man that can appear anywhere and cannot make a sound became apparent to the local nobility. They subsequently requested many favors of him (some for money, some to avoid punishment), which even Elias knows little about, although he has an idea.
