Requirements

Is the oldest son/grandson/great grandson/nephew/brother/uncle... of the previous king.

Appointment

After the death of a king his oldest male heir ascends to the throne after a mourning period of three weeks. All the High Lords of Ancaepya must be present at the coronation or their title is revoked and must be purchased anew.

Duties

The king (or his advisors) must be politically savvy and have enough skill in diplomacy and intrigue to manage to play the High Lords against each other, as the King does not have a military force strong enough to retain his position. He must act as a balancing tool for the High Lords.

Responsibilities

The king appoints nobles, rules the city of Wickaryn and its surrounding area, sometimes judging disputes between High Lords, although those usually result in war.

Benefits

While the king doesn't hold much political power, his position is still very influential and his existence keeps the High Lords in check.

Accoutrements & Equipment

The King wears the Crown of Ancaepya upon his head, but the most important symbol of office is the Dragon Scepter, a magical scepter which gives its wielder fire magic powers.

Grounds for Removal/Dismissal

The king may not be officially deposed, but rebellions are not unheard of.
