Bloodsinger

Appearance

Bloodsinger is a rapier, forged of malum and phylantium, some of the rarest metals in Amion. These metals give the weapon a rippled colouring of deep red and dark metal. Its blade is concave and triangular in shape, with vicious serrations near its hilt. The hilt is ornamented, with two round rings and a further third with sharpened points, both towards the blade and angled towards the wielder's hand. Bloodsinger's grip is wrapped in reddened leather and a simple heavy pommel.

History

Bloodsinger is a well documented artefact among the followers of Mirena, the goddess said to have crafted the weapon. It has been passed down through the ranks of her champions since the dawn of Amion, though the names of many of these individuals have been lost, with them taking on the mantle of Bloodsworn and forgoing their previous identity. The first champion to receive Bloodsinger was also the first to become Bloodsworn. In the centuries since, dozens of champions have been recorded as wielding the blade, with many of them hailing from the Temple of the Fury. Most recently, the blade has found its way to the Baedr Archipelago, in the hands of a powerful chieftan.

Powers

The metals used in Bloodsinger's construction allow it to bypass magical shields and barriers, while also being anathema to celestial beings. In addition, the blade was crafted to enhance the abilities of those utilising both magic and martial skill, allowing more of a blending of the two. However, Bloodsinger's most powerful ability, and the one for which it is named, is its potential to drain the blood, the very life force, of its wielder, turning that into pure arcane power.
