The Great Grass Sea
The interior of the continent, known as the Great Grass Sea, is a massive plateau filled with rolling plains, strange beast-like people, and hidden monsters. The enormous area is not widely understood and remarkably little has been effectively mapped. For most, it is enough to know it exists and that it is near impossible to make permanent settlements there.
Geography
The area, which accounts for a significant portion of the continent, is a massive steppe region with dry hills, pockets of forests, and small lakes. However, it is most well known for its vast and imposing grasses. This beautiful and desolate land is not well explored for a variety of reasons, the least of which is the dangerous wildlife and savage bestial humanoids which dot the land.
Some ancient ruins do exist in the sea, but few significant research attempts have been made. Some ruins have been estimated to be nearly a thousand years old. However, without a proper expedition it would be impossible to say.
There are also strange cracks in the land which seemingly open into gates of pure darkness. These are unexplored for the most part, but it is rumoured that by entering these sinkholes you can enter the Lower Planes.
Fauna & Flora
It is a lonely place with little in the way of civilization. The peoples (if they can be called that) are strange beastly creatures that do not speak the common tongue and attack trade caravans who tread too close. Survivors and reports indicate strange people of all shapes and sizes. From lithe cat-like people, to birds which stand like men, and massive bizarre creatures with snakes on their faces; stories of these people are the stuff of nightmares to frighten misbehaving children.
That said, other more mundane, although no less dangerous, creatures roam the land as well. Goblinoids are a common sight which patrol the borders of the civilized lands searching for easy prey. Captured goblinoids who know enough Common tell stories of fantastical monstrosities to frighten their children into obedience.
Natural Resources
The Great Grass Sea is a desolate and unforgiving land. The centre of the region is nearly desert with hundreds of miles of barren grasses. There are some patches of forests , strange mesas, and the occasional river and small lake, however, they are few and far between. This is also to say nothing of the monsters which may have claimed them as there homes.
Much of the land still bears the scars of the Blight from hundreds of years ago, but life has found a way in many places.
