The Tear

The destruction of the metaphysical separation between Bedouar and Faerie, resulting in the creation of Alvez.   The wave of devastation in the initial tear led to the collapse of the Empire of Tarif and the remaking of the world in the first Bleed.

The immediate cause of the Tear is unknown, but its effects were far-reaching, permanently altering the realms of Bedouar and Faerie, merging the two distinct realities together into an inseparable fusion collectively known as Alvez.   Little reliable evidence exists of the time before the Tear, as the devastation reached the fabric of reality itself, wiping out records, memories and locations in the chaos. It is generally considered that the Tear first manifested in Remus, the capital of the Empire of Tarif in what is now the Shatterlands. This is largely based on conjecture, due to the lack of reliable records and the unmatched level of devastation to the region.   Oral tradition indicates a giant gash of light appearing in the sky across Bedouar, the Gaoithe Sidhe The Faerie Winds spilling out into the mortal world in a violent outburst of colour. A series of Wyldstorms and massive earthquakes followed, sending waves of unparalleled destruction across Letha. The capital region was destroyed, replaced by the maze of jagged, water-filled canyons of the Shatterlands, while powerful tsunamis destroyed coastal settlements throughout the region. Volcanoes belched fire into the skies.   Next came the Feth Fiada, the fog-like mist that rolled in from the sea, enveloping all of Letha for a year. When the mists receded, the Bediz found that their world had changed, and they were no longer alone...
