Zorin's Magnificent Traveling Circus
Zorin's Magnificent Traveling Circus began as the dream of Zorin Tarlov, a successful merchant from the south who "retired" and shortly thereafter saved several would-be sacrificial slaves from New Babylon’s brutal rituals. Transforming these survivors into performers, Zorin established a traveling spectacle that showcased awe-inspiring stunts, eerie illusions, and supernatural feats. The troupe, featuring members like the prophetic singer Nika Nightsong, the acrobat twins Karl and Alexey, and Bogdan the Human Bull, became a close-knit family bound by shared trauma and loyalty to their charismatic founder. They came to the North and traversed the wilds of Chernaya, using the circus as both a livelihood and a cover for their pasts, all while evading suspicion from Witch-Hunters who viewed anything otherworldly as a threat.
The circus's world was shattered during an ambush by the Tovag, monstrous werewolf-like creatures, in Veligrad. Zorin was slain in the chaos, leaving the circus to reassemble under desperate circumstances. Leadership fell to the remaining members, who restructured the acts to conceal their true mission: survival and subtle resistance. The circus travels as a band of survivors on a perilous journey toward Rostova, carrying the weight of their grief and the looming threats of both Aberrations and the Crown’s oppressive forces.
