Session 5: Preparing to Hunt the Bogshade

After several days at the Rest, Rolandus was still quite injured from his encounter with the Nightreaver. They had decided to set out in hunt of a Bogshade they heard about from Yanla the Oyun, which they believed could be used to create a salve that would confer some of its regenerative abilities for a time.   This session was spent mostly preparing for their hunt—they sought out Arsen the Younger, the son of the village blacksmith, an apprentice smith himself. Arsen was amenable to the idea of building a “Siberian bear hunting suit,” basically very crude armor with spikes all over it.   He agreed to be paid with their haul should they survive to tell the tale. “The idea is so crazy I’ve got to see how this turns out.”   Zenscha had little trouble concocting both an emetic for Tonibore to break open if he was swallowed by the beast, as well as a contact poison to smear on the spikes of the armor and the group’s weapons.   They conferred over their notes of where the Bogshade was said to dwell, not too far north from the village, following a small brook that ran down from the mountains. There was a marshland patch in the forest.
